BIG WAVE SURFER & FREEDIVER

I am Lena Kemna.

I was born and raised in Germany. While I have followed an academic path for most of my life, I’ve always been deeply inspired by nature. Being out in the rough ocean, facing the elements, and exploring what it takes to navigate them eventually led me to dedicate my life to surfing and freediving.

For the past 10 years, I’ve lived on the Atlantic coast of Portugal, surfing powerful waves and pursuing freediving with ambition. In 2025, I became the first female big wave surfer from Germany. My journey was captured in the film LENA, which toured cinemas in Germany and worldwide, before being shown in in-flight entertainment (Lufthansa, Swiss Airlines, TAP) and on TV channels globally. That same year, I started competing in freediving and in 2026, became the vice-champion of dynamic apnea in Portugal.

Throughout it all, I’m guided by my principles:

Respecting the forces of nature, empowering others, and prioritising safety while exploring the ocean in its most extreme forms.

I collaborate with selected brands as a team rider and through social media partnerships.
